Cygnet Village

Cygnet is an historic Tasmanian town on the eastern side of the Huon River in southern Tasmania. The town has a population of around 800 and is about 40 minutes drive (56kms) south of Hobart, in the Huon Valley. The Cygnet Folk Festival, held in January, highlights the range of folk music and entertainment the Valley has to offer.

The attractions around Cygnet are predominantly scenic, being an ideal stopover for picnics, fishing, bushwalking and boating. The drive north along the coast towards Hobart through Verona Sands and Woodbridge is worth the effort, with the Huon River becoming widening until it opens into D'Entrecasteaux Channel.

Tasmania is a popular destination for travellers, backpackers, tourists, or business visitors looking for an ecotourism or nature getaway. The temperate climate and pristine wilderness is popular with bushwalkers all year round, but particularly in the summer months when the weather is a little more settled. There's no shortage of fantastic hotel or boutique accommodation and plenty of great food and wine. The seafood is a specialty, as is the Pinot Noir!
